company, currently we have 3 staff with a strong
customer base.Much of our business is from refferals due to our high quality and reasonable price structure.
In the next two years a limited number of Australian Franchise Operations
will become available.
Franchise operations in other countries will be entertained in selected countries.
What is a franchise?
A franchise allows you to operate business under a brand name *Avid Tech* in a select territory after purchasing rights to do so.
A franchise operator pays an initial rights and equipment fee and also monthly turnover fees plus marketing co contribution from income derived.
Typically a franchise is a proven business model with an established brand name
providing unique products or services.
Is an Avid Tech fracnchise for me?
If you are in the media transfer industry and have some skills but just can't get a market share then this may be of interest to you.
For those who want to launch into this industry it is difficult to learn all you will need to know and you also need basic business management skills and working capital.
Can I start part time?
No, you really do need to be on hand to run the day to day and initially you will find the hours worked to be somewhat onerous as is the case for all small busienss start ups.
Plan on a full time 5 days a week availability. A real commitment to your personal success is essential.
Can I make good money?
This is up to you and your personal work ethic, self discipline. Your first year in business may not result in a profit for tax purposes.
Do I have to rent a shop or office?
Not if you have adequate secure space that is air conditioned and insulated with a minimum working floor space of 3 x 6 metres as an absolute minimum you could just get by, but do be prepared to move.
Can I use a virtual - serviced office as my contact base?
Yes. but only in approved locations
Will I need a fit out?
An electical installation that is independant and has 8 double power points
4 office desks and storage racks, a fire proof cabinet chairs, etc.
You will need to aquire the above at your own expense and you do not need to buy from us.
How many computers will I need?
3 workstation PC's and an admin PC. 2 custom built workstations are included
What about VTR's and slide scanners, printers etc?
You will need a Mini DV deck and a bank of VHS deck, we will advise you about other formats. Slide scanner and printers including disk printers are required.
FXF equipment ?
You will recieve equipment custom engineered to our specifications for Super 8 + 8mm and depending on your market 16mm and 9.5 mm are options.
Can I buy my own FXF equipment?
No, the equipment provided by the manufacturer needs further modification before it meets our standards to reach Avid Tech's FXF and COV feature requires a matched workstation and is part of the Avid Tech system for better transfers and higher productivity.
What goes into FXF and COV?
I would have to kill you if I told you.
Capture devices and software?
Will be supplied and installed.
What about training?
5 to 10 days 101 training is provided with ongoing support by email and phone.
What about Account keeping and invoices?
You will be required to use MYOB Accounting.
How much captial will I need?
You will need the franchise fee and working capital in reserve to meet living and business expenses. For genuine enquirers please contact us by email with this question as there are a number of location factors and equipment level options.
Can I get finance to buy into the franchise from Avid Tech?
No, we do not wish to have a percieved confilct of interest and suggest you approach your accountant after inital inquiry to determine your venture viability.
How long will it take to establish a franchise?

Any time but of course 1 July is optimal.

I have a media buisness, can I become and Avid Tech DVD Transfer Centre with exiating equipment?
Well, yes and you can use some of your equipment
with the exception of Apple Mac PC due to limitations of required software. Additional equipment can be provided to balance your needs.
