HD Super 8 / 8mm Film transfer. High Definition Blue Ray BD DVD from Super 8 / 8mm
HD is coming to the DVD Transfer Centre late in 2008.
Late in 2008 Avid Tech's DVD Transfer Centre will be the first company in Australia to offer true frame by frame HD telecine services with the FXF sytem enhanced
for Zero Interface HD transfer of super 8 and 8mm home movies to BD DVD.
HD FXF ZI
Under development as we write, FXFZI for HD film transfer will privide some unique
systems and capture technology that will allow us to capture in uncompressed .avi
directly from the film emulsion without conversion or capture cards.
HDMI is a great developmental leap forward integrating and offering a direct HD video from BD players directly to your LCD or Plasma TV. Avid Tech will be using specialised adaptations of HDMI within the computer system to capture directly to our unique multi array FXF (frame cross flow) proceesing of the captured HD frames to enusre no lost frames and no digital atefacts.
Testing to date on converntional high end computers has proven that is will not be
a simple adaptation of a high performance computing soloution off the rack.
Avid Tech are currently building a purpose built design for our HD PC.
The HD PC will have some awesome specs such as Quad Core CPU Intel E9550 is the starting chip, large 4Gig high speed memory running at 1066 mhz or higher.
7 Hard Disks are required in our design to meet the extraordinary amount of data
generated by HD film scanning. Made up of 3 RAID arrays and a 10,000 RPM system disk to keep up with our processing capability and also ensure maximum
efficency and productivity as the HD format will take a lot longer to convert than
traditional Standard Defiftion.
HD ZI - Zero Interface Development
Much of the enhancements we have developed for our FXF standard defifintion systems will be inforporated into our new HD ZI system but with out the cpature
AD/DV converter and other hardware that will not work with HD video from film.
We will adapt our frame cross flow processing into the hard disk arrays and utilise
some of the advanced codec re write for our SD transfer into a re write and programming of our COV codec enhancement. COV (Clarity of Vision) is an enhance, emt to ensure black and high shadow detail along with finer rendition of colours and higher general detail, this codec is now under testing in the beta level.
A final version will mark the release date of HD BD film transfers from super 8 and 8 mm movie films.
Watch this space or join the HDFXFZI wait list.
As we get closer to a release date we will make announcements
on this page with the final public release on our home page and elsewhere.
To keep up with release information and be the first to trial our pre release
HD FXF transfer email us at: avidau@avidtechdvd.com.au
Early participants will recieve 50% discounts on the transfer costs. BD DVD's will be provided at our cost.
HD FXF will cost a lot more than SD trasfers and since the cost of BD media is still sky high that cost will have to be passed on. We anticipate the cost of media will fall in due course, you can save a lot of money by having your HD files delivered on your own USB external drive for viewing with a digital PVR as some have the option available.
As more relevant information and samples become availabe we will post them to this page.
