Frame by Frame super 8 & 8mm stop morion capture - film transfer.

The ultimate in affordable film transfer systems is no accident, more like a deliberate design effort to conquer an seemingly impossible task of film scanning at an affordable cost that could be used by persons with a high level of technical and image knowledege.

Roger Evans at moviestuff in the state of Texas USA achieved  a design that has been acknowledged as the ultimate in film scanning equipment. Moviestuff has a range of models, some which are not frame by frame but real time re-shoot machines that require a seperate video camera that relies on a mirror and convex lens to suspend an image seemingly in mid air ( like Multiplex, but with less optics) which is acurally projected and of course these are not frame by frame machines.

Known as the Cinemate and WorkprinterXP which is a form of frame by frame but of course is not true frame by frame as is cliamed by some who rely on using the name of moviestuff to gain credibility.

True Frame by Frame film stop motion capture is only achieved by the DV8 Sniper series as the film is scanned directly from the film sirface emulsion side for superior results.

Avid TechDVD has aquired 2 DV8Sniper units and customised these units to our own high specifications.

How it works:

Frame by frame film scanners work by passing a single frame at a time presenting the film frame to the scaaning head that captures a single image and stores that frame of 8mm or Super 8 film as am image before advancing the next film frame for stip motion capture.
